About us
Droones Aerial Works inspects wind turbine blades by drone. That is what we do, every day. A compact, experienced crew with a proven process, working for wind parks across Northern Europe.

Our approach
With rope access, a team manages two turbines a day at most, at high cost and with people working at height. We do it differently. Large drones with a high-resolution camera and LiDAR inspect a turbine in about 40 minutes, with around 95% of the flight automated.
Last year we inspected around 1,700 turbines for owners, operators and international inspection partners. Behind that is a compact team: founder Eddy Grootemaat and a small team of experienced drone and blade specialists who know the work and the sites. That keeps us flexible, also when a turbine needs us at short notice.

Independent
When the maintenance party inspects its own turbines, the findings are rarely neutral, and reports are not always shared in full with the owner. We do not carry out repairs, so we have no interest in what an inspection finds.
You receive every photo and every finding in your own online portal. The data is yours, to share with your service provider, an expert or your insurer.
Certified and audited
We are an operator in the Specific Category, which allows us to fly in controlled airspace, for example near airports and air bases. Our operations manual, including its risk scenarios, has been reviewed and approved by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) and is audited periodically. Every flight, flight plan, battery and drone is logged in dedicated flight management software.
Our crew holds GWO, BOSIET and GBS L1 certificates and is trained to operate and stop turbines from Vestas, Enercon, GE and Nordex.
We work with proven technology: inspection hardware and software from Aerios, and contactless LPS measurement technology from our LPS partner TOPseven. Our own power supply and a full set of backup equipment let us fly all day, and an equipment failure never stops the job.
Questions
Droones Aerial Works is led by founder Eddy Grootemaat, together with a small team of drone and blade specialists. You deal with the same people from planning to report.
We focus on wind turbine blades, we are independent of repair work, and our process is built to keep downtime short: about 40 minutes per turbine, with blade and LPS in one rotor stop.
